Only Voice Remains: Making Collective Prophecies @Second Home Spitalfields
Tuesday, 13 December 2022
Starts at 19:00
Spitalfields, 68-80 Hanbury Street London E1 5JL
Only Voice Remains is an Iranian collective operating with transnational anti-capitalist queer feminist values.
Through organising sonic protests, we believe in sound’s vocation and capacity to mobilise and withhold a borderless imaginary, to build a mutual narrative and strategies of resistance.
In light of current events in Iran and Kurdistan, join us for a collective listening session and workshop as we broadcast compiled (and subtitled) audio submissions of resistance, solidarity and reflection.
After the collective listening session, we will be holding space for each other through music and togetherness, reflecting on the emotional aftermath of the piece. Food will be available for sale from Mana’s Plant-based Persian Cuisine.
The aims of this project are:
To archive what is happening under the Islamic Republic of Iran and prevent the erasure of feminist, queer, religious and ethnic marginalised narratives.
To build networks of solidarity and critical dialogue around the gender and ethnic struggles.
To emphasise the intersectionality of the moment for freedom and the networks of oppression that uphold each other across the region.
To create ground for further action through collective reflection and discussion.
How can we seize the potentials of this moment, at a time when we can have conversations that once seemed unreachable, and process shared uncertainties regarding the future?
Only Voice Remains is a safe space for members of BIPOC and LGBTQ communities, open to all.
Please get in touch via email if you have any accessibility needs or questions.
Please also note that the event will be audio recorded and archived by Only Voice Remains. Attendees who would not like the recording of their voice to be used can opt-out by advising the event organisers at any time.
